June 17, 2002: PC-compatible pedometer allows user to upload walking data
A new model pedometer by Omron Corp. can be connected to a PC, allowing the user to upload and download exercise data.
When connected to a PC via a Universal Serial Bus adapter cable, the Walking Style BI HJ-700IT can transmit data, such as the number of steps taken and the number of calories consumed. Users can then view the data on graphs incorporating results for a day, a week or a month.
The pedometer can keep track of steps even when carried in a pocket or bag which eliminates the need to clip it on to a belt.
Price: 8,800 yen.
